How to contribute

This space provides information to everyone that wants to help to make inspectIT even more awesome. Thank you for participating!

All contributions are valueable - not only code

You do not have to be a programmer to contribute to inspectIT. There are many other ways:

  • Advocate inspectIT by using it is the easiest way for to contribute to the project (e.g., by using it in your organization or your own open source project).
  • Educate other people why inspectIT is a great open source tool helps us the project to get recognized (e.g., by writing blog posts).
  • Design graphics used as icons and other places.
  • Report issues proactively starting from bugs to UI and UX issues.
  • Improve the documentation, write tutorials, or record a webinar to help people get their task done and not stuck on a problem.

Last but not least we want to understand what feature you need to make inspectIT an even better tool for you, so please feel free to propose new features. Also you can just join to vote features, so that we know what is important to you and plan our releases in a better way.

If - on the other hand - you are a programmer, we are always happy to integrate your bug fixes or feature improvements. You can come up with your own features (please let us know if you have something planned, so that we can give you feedback early) or you can have a look at our current tasks and decide to help us with one of them.

For most of these tasks it is good if you had your own account - don't be shy, just create create an account. It is really a simple procedure. On the other hand we intend to allow most of the operations to anonymous users - at least as long as we can handle potential spam.
