inspectIT 1.4 Upgrade Guide
This document helps you upgrading an existing installation of inspectIT with version 1.3 to 1.4. For a new installation please have a look at the Installation Guide.
How to install the new version?
- Extract the complete releases for agent, CMR and UI. Do not try to only copy selected artefacts to the old installation (This is for sure possible, but can lead to many problems)
- You can use the same license that you used before.
Necessary adaptions
- Please note that the standard port for communicating between the user interface and the CMR was changed to 8182.
Optional: Additional configuration possibilies
- The new storage feature can be configured. The default setting are usually fine. For more information please see Storage configuration
Optional: Things that work better now, but still work the old way
- inspectIT now allows to define the agent by its name alone (that is the IP information is not taken into consideration). Please have a look at IP based agent registration
- inspectIT now support IBM JVM on the agent. IBM version 6 now provides platform sensors
- inspectIT also supports IBM JVM on the CMR.
Things that will not work anymore
- Old inspectIT 1.3 storages will not work with inspectIT 1.4. But you can still keep the inspectIT user interface 1.3 at hand to analyze these storages. If there is enough people, that really need a migration tool, we check if we built a transformer to the new storages
