Planning and Release Process Overview

This page presents a basic overview of the development planning process within inspectIT.

During regular Release planning sessions, we plan major versions. At this point in time we do not fix the whole scope of the version, but rather plan where we want to integrate our next big features/enhancements - we can them signature features or epics. This leads to a rough /wiki/spaces/ROAD/pages/10092608. Within a major release, we have time-boxed sprints. At the end of the sprint we do a sprint end meeting in which we discuss the progress on the tickets and check if we need to re-prioritize them. We also decide whether we want to release a preview/preliminary release (see Release types) in order to make the features we realized already available to everyone. Note that the scope of a major version is not fixed. It can and will happen that new features/bugs are moved in or features will be moved out. The only thing we try to avoid is to move new epics in (as these usually blow up the necessary effort so much that the version will not be released soon).
