Migrated from NovaTec Jira. Original ticket: INSPECTIT-502
Excelsior JET is a ahead of time compiler which converts all the java code into native code for improved performance. This could be interesting for our server and the UI (whereas the server would benefit a lot more). The licensing of this tool is that a freeware target application could get this one for free, so we should definitely try it out and see how much it brings.
Update: The support for Java 7 is available now, so we can try this out. Should be free as we are open source now.

My mistake.. It is free for non-commercial products:

Apr-2013 8.0 GA 64-bit Windows support
3Q-2013 8.1 GA Java 7 (8?) and 64-bit Linux support
We plan the ticket for 2.0 but mostly to check if their roadmap changes

Support for Java 7 is far far away. And I based everything on it ;(

This is paid software and I doubt it would come to usage in inspectIT.. On the other hand it can be a great ticket for the CG work, as the tool offers 90-day free evaluation trial..

So this is wrong? Is there an option to get this for free if we are open source with eclipse?
Else I concur with you Ivan, to close this ticket. I do not even see a CG task for this
